Green GrowthOff-grid solutions

Everflo Pty Ltd manufactured these innovative solutions to help pharmacies and hospitals across Africa transition toward sustainable, low-carbon, and climate-resilient development.

By adopting green growth strategies, these solutions enable healthcare facilities to bypass fossil fuels and refrigerant technologies with high global warming potential, paving the way for a cleaner, more efficient future. This project ensures a reliable energy supply and safe, bacteria—and virus-free water for Africa's rural and remote healthcare facilities. Designed for seamless integration, these solutions allow for easy implementation while preserving existing infrastructure.

Limited access to healthcare, clean water, schools, and infrastructure leads to increased illness and persistent poverty in many rural African communities, especially compared to urban areas. Medical facilities in these regions often struggle with unreliable electricity and water supplies, making it difficult to provide consistent care. Everflo’s climate-friendly refrigeration systems, utilizing natural refrigerants, introduce groundbreaking, first-time solutions tailored to the unique challenges of these remote areas.

Technologies
Using various green technologies, Everflo will develop and manufacture locally innovative, modular, affordable and efficient solar-powered systems to provide:

• Safe, clean drinking water and deionised water for medical purposes
• Hot water and steam production for the thermal requirements of the
   hospitals
• Cooling of medicines and food at +5°C

• Low-temperature storage of blood plasma at -30 °C
• Ultra-low temperature storage of sensitive medication (E.g. some Covid-
    19 vaccines)
• Emergency electricity supply for surgical and intensive care units

Therma Energy Storage
Existing Issues in the Market

High Peak Cooling Loads in Summer:

• Chillers must be sized for the highest peak load

• These chillers required large motors and heat exchange surfaces

  High Electricity Costs:

• Demand charges are based on the peak energy consumption,

   over and above normal tariffs

• Peak rates are much more expensive than off-peak and standard rates
